FAQ

What is "ductless" heating & cooling?

A ductless system, also known as a “mini split,” has two main components — an outdoor condenser and an indoor air-handling unit. These units are connected only through a small refrigerant line, eliminating the need for any ductwork. One outdoor condenser unit is capable of running multiple indoor air-handling units and they can provide both heating and cooling functions.

Why should I choose ductless over a traditional ducted system?

With a ductless system, you can heat & cool individual rooms! Ductless mini splits allow for flexibility. You can install units in the desired areas/zones throughout the house and control the temperature in each room separately. This is ideal for cooling or heating only the areas of your home that are occupied as opposed to the whole house.

Are ductless systems really more efficient than a ducted whole house systems?

On average, it is estimated that the typical AC system can lose up to 30% of its efficiency as a result of leaks in the duct system. By eliminating the need for ductwork altogether, you minimize the risk of air leakage during both the heating and cooling process.

I don't like forced air systems because my allergies and asthma act up, won't ductless have the same affect?

Traditional ductwork without diligent maintenance can become a significant source of dust, allergens and other pollutants that affect the quality of the air inside our home. Ductless mini splits have unique filtration abilities that can be cleaned with a simple change of a filter and can also be upgraded as desired, in turn provides cleaner air to your space.

Isn't going Ductless a huge project?

Traditional ductwork is bulky and difficult to install. Ductless mini splits are simple to install, non-invasive and can be completed in a fraction of the time. Additionally, there are no ducts and vents that need to be maintained. They are small units that require minimal maintenance when compared to traditional units.

What is Inverter driven heating & cooling equipment?

The systems have "variable speeds". The inverter system eliminates energy losses caused by repeated starts and stops by adjusting the refrigerant speed automatically at various speeds. This makes the system way more efficient instead of traditional unitary units that stop and start at only one speed to its full boar capacity that causes more energy use.

How much could I possibly save by converting my oil or gas-powered system by switching to all electric ductless or ducted inverter-driven equipment?

Lower Energy Expenses & Reduced Carbon Footprint: By heating and cooling only the necessary parts of your home you are already saving money on your energy expenses. Additionally, the majority of ductless mini split units are built more energy efficient and can cut heating and cooling expenses anywhere from 30-60% when compared to the other solutions.
